I ate the cake and it was delightful. And here’s what I think: you need to have a cooking show, in every episode of which Katie comes over to help, and no editing out stuff. It would be funny.

it was good. i pretty much always have soy milk if you need it. i never have soy margerine though. i asked my friend for an amazing vegan cake resipe that we will have to try. it rocked! i’ll probably get it in 5 months or so since she is as slow responding to letters as i am.
there is no such thing as science, and no absolutes. that sounds really silly. i mean dont worry about mesuring so much, unless it it baking soda or something like that.

baking isn’t so bad once you understand it. I wouldn’t recommend deviating from the recipe until you’re really comfortable with it. A handy tip: because vanilla is so tasty and doesn’t affect the baking process, you can put in as much as you like. That is the secret to making amazing chocolate chip cookies. That and ghirdelli (sp?) chocolate. But mostly, it’s just hideous gobs of unmeasured vanilla.

It is a freeing experience.
